Television production is a pretty casual world. No real rules about what to wear so I thought I’d go middle ground: a skirt before bringing out shorts, flats over any heels just in case a group-outing was scheduled, sleeveless button-down because it’s hot as hot ass out. I was just happy I still fit into the skirt, especially considering the unemployment weight I put on.

With a full day of back-to-back shoots scheduled, I knew I had to be prepared. Shorts (for sitting around, sometimes on the floor) and flats (for standing around).

And I got my flower pin too. I should finally paint my mirror like I’ve been saying I would. And maybe take care of the wall paint splashes.

I knew it’d be a slow day today so I went with a skirt and wedges. My favorite wedges I jumped on when I first saw them back in January 2008. I’ve worn them to the ground; so many times that last year they split across the sole and I had to take them to the cobbler. Fixed, but never the same. Clunky and heavy, not as comfortable as when I first got them, but I still bring them out once in a while.

On Fridays, I like to be prepared for the possibility that I may not be able to get home before going out. So I try to choose a universal outfit. I don’t necessarily think a crop top is office-appropriate but I work for MTV. Anything goes, really.
Halfway to the new office, I strolled by a rainbow. I’m trying to take it all in now before the college kids are back in town; I doubt the stoll will be as breezy as it has been.

Rain always throws me for a loop. I’ll never know what to wear. So this is what I came up with this morning - skinny jeans (that I bought for under five bucks!) and platform wedges (to keep me above puddles).

Not quite rainy, but misty this morning. Still confusing, especially in August.

H&M top, Forever 21 suede shorts and necklace, Club Monaco silk jacket, Schuler & Sons booties, my mother’s belt, Glam Rock watch
It feels awkward to be wearing this today after being a tad chilly in suede shorts, booties and a silk jacket yesterday but this morning was definitely summer again.

The last five days have been a doozy. Thursday night, I went out with Jen, a girlfriend from The Seven, to Ippudo NY, a ramen house via Japan. Their New York location is right by my apartment and there is always a line out the door so I’ve been curious. Luckily, Jen was willing to sit out the hour-and-a-half wait as we sipped on lychee martinis and observed the popular dishes going out. The most frequent: pork buns - white steamed buns (the kind you get with pecking duck at Chinese restaurants) stuffed with juicy braised pork, lettuce and Japanese mayo (I’m a sucker for mayo, especially Japanese mayo). No photos of anything (I was too occupied with food) but I really enjoyed an unexpected outfit accessory that my boyfriend picked out for me: a leopard belt with my floral sleeveless blouse and high-waist black shorts. I need to rock that again.
Friday night was Lia’s birthday and even though the torrential rains tried to damper the party, a group of former Seveners still trekked up to a rooftop bar in K-Town and ventured into a Korean BBQ restaurant where we probably broke a dozen customs. We know for sure that we broke one after the waitress actually slapped Cory’s hand away from the rice. I forgot that they’re supposed to serve that for you. Oops… But it was a blast.
Saturday turned into an errand-running day and in between, hunting down a pair of these Anthropologie shoes in the plum color shown here. Couldn’t find plum but I’m actually delightfully pleased with the coral…and of course the comfort…AND the sale price. Who knew that 4.5 inch heels could actually be comfortable?

I can’t believe it took me all summer to find the chunky, bright-colored heels I’ve been searching for, but I’m excited to take these through the Fall.
And then I had some ice cream:

Sunday was an amazing day catching up with old friends for my boyfriend’s birthday (which isn’t till Thursday). Went bike riding on Governor’s Island (more pictures to come), hung out by the pool at our friend’s hotel, and had a feast at our favorite restaurant Noodle Pudding. My bike, which I decorated myself:

And this morning I realized that if it’s not today, it was sometime this week, six years ago that I moved to New York City transferring from East Los Angeles College to New York University. My anniversary outfit today (which I think was what I wore on my first day on The Seven, almost a year ago too):

American Apparel tank, Anthropologie skirt and belt, Madewell necklace, J. Crew sandals.
…and a little more pink.
